Fat Freddy's Drop
There are lots of things I love about New Zealand - my family and friends of course being at the top of my list. Apart from the fact that New Zealand is one of the most beautiful and unique countries in the world, New Zealand also boasts a lot of talented and well known actors and artists. Among my favourites are: Fat Freddy's Drop. The band has been around since the end of the 90's, and over the past 20 years they have sold more than 500.000 albums and have a fanbase spaning the entire globe.
Last year, my uncle Shanon surprised me with a "backstage pass" for my birthday, to watch Fat Freddy's sound check before their concert at the Rockefeller in Oslo. Watching their sound check, and meeting the band members was one of the best moments of 2018, topped by their concert which also was a huge surprise thanks to Iain. The concert venue was 18 yr + age limit and since I hadn't sprouted any taller or aged since my previous birthday, they got special permission for me to be in a designated area (either behind the stage or beside the sound board out the front of the house/stage) together with my mum so that I could watch the concert. When your 14 years old, and you get a "once in a life time" chance to see a band like Fat Freddy's Drop live, you obey the few rules that the owner/manager of the venue has.
Opening for Fat Freddy's was Ladi6, and I can say with my hand on my heart - she was also amazing.
Thank you to Fat Freddy's Drop for all the awesome memories. ❤ A special thanks and much love from me to: Iain Gordon for his overwhelming kindness and taking the time to chat with me, Karoline Tamati aka Ladi6 for her warmth and generosity, my uncle Shanon for best birthday surprise ever, and my mum Vanessa - for your eternal support and love. ❤
Check out Fat Freddy's Drop concert dates here if you want to experience one of the best New Zealand bands ever. ❤
